Dr Elaine Chong is a specialist ophthalmologist. Following four years of ophthalmology training, she completed an additional four years of subspecialty training in cataract surgery, refractive laser vision correction, cornea transplantation surgery, pterygium surgery and management of medical retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr Chong has written more than thirty six peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national and international meetings, winning several awards. She is a senior research fellow at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, University of Melbourne and continues to be actively engaged in research.
Her private practice is complemented by her appointments as a consultant ophthalmologist in the corneal and medical retinal units at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital (RVEEH) and Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH).
